The Small Details…

I came home last night, tired from spending the entire day at the local “Rommel Markt” (Dutch version of a swap meet).  Oddly enough, we had a very HOT day and sitting out infront of the stand, Ralph and I were worn out!

I moved to Uden, this February and had a garage full of old “stuff” that I wanted to get rid of.  Ralph recently moved in with me and he, too, had a few things he wanted to get rid of so we decided to rent out a stand and sell it!  We made out very well and now we have our very first, joint saving account for a nice vacation when we both have some time off.

Anyhow, when we got home, Ralph asked me to follow him to the bedroom and asked me to close my eyes.  I did and when he gave me the green light, I opened them to see a portrait of my mom when she was 17 years old!  Ralph took and old picture of my mom and restored, mated, and framed it for me.

The picture of my mom is very special to me because she’s sitting on a horse the way women sat on horses back in the old days (sideways, with both legs on one side of the horse).  She wore a lime green, airline stewardess like dress, with a hat that matched to the “T.”  It may sound strange, but in actuality it’s the greatest picture of the best women in the world!  And now I have her front and center in my house, everyday!

Sometimes the small attention to details is all it takes to steal my heart…  Ralph, my heart is yours!
